Visit to the Hydrographical Study Centre

Published: December 15, 2008

The Miguel Fisac Foundation has organized a series of guided visits to increase awareness of the most symbolic buildings designed by Miguel Fisac. Last November, the programmed visit was to the Hydrographical Study Centre in Madrid. Amongst the people attending were: Ramon Ruiz-Valdepeñas, the Foundation Chairman; Federico Perez Parada, Chairman of the Architects Association of Ciudad Real; the Vice Dean of the Architects Association of Castilla-La Mancha and other members of the Foundation and the Architects Association of La Mancha.

At the Hydrographical Centre they were welcomed by the Director of the Centre, Juan Manuel Ruiz and Enrique Mendiluce, the building curator. Before the tour of the Centre, there was a meeting where they presented future activities and the objectives of the Foundation, aimed at the assessment and diffusion of Miguel Fisac’s works. The Director of Hydrographical Centre was delighted with these projects and a new line of collaboration between both institutions has begun.

Educational visits to learn about Miguel Fisac

Published: December 05, 2008

The Miguel Fisac Foundation, in collaboration with the Architects Association of Ciudad Real, has organized a series of educational visits for secondary students and also for students attending the Pedro Almodovar College of Art and Design to teach them about the life and works of the architect Miguel Fisac. With this aim, an exhibition with the title Miguel Fisac, una aproximación a su legado (Miguel Fisac, an approach to his legacy), is being held in the Auditorium at the headquarters of the Architects Association.

For this purpose, the Foundation has developed a presentation with photographs, comments and which shows works by the architect, it is a schematic view of the uniqueness of a great master of architecture.

The first to accept this proposal launched by the Foundation were the students at the Pedro Almodovar College of Art and Design, who deepened their knowledge of Fisac with the help of their professor, the architect Jose Luis Leon, and the guided tour of this exhibition.

At the end of the visit, each student received a catalogue on Fisac and a copy of the presentation they had seen earlier.

This invitation to the different high schools throughout the city will be open until the end of the year, when the exhibition will finish; it is on display in the Assembly Auditorium at the headquarters of the Architects Association of Ciudad Real.
